Friends and colleagues

Various photographs of my friends and colleagues

01

Soldier Solomon Gorfinkel in his 4th year of service.

02

The soldiers of my platoon are on guard duty. That is why I am wearing a sheepskin coat. I was inspecting the guard posts with the unit's guard commander (the officer in the center of the photo). The officer has his holster unfastened, and I am carrying a loaded carbine. There is an ammunition pouch with live rounds on my belt. Everything is in accordance with regulations.

03

Photograph from the article "The Difficult Path of the Harmonic Drive." During testing. Left to right: engineer I. V. Voloshinov, designer S. I. Gorfinkel, and laboratory head Yu. A. Zosimov. Ukhta (Komi).

04

Test drivers.

Far left: research engineer I. V. Voloshinov. Far right: B. P. Zaikin, foreman of the test drivers. (Unfortunately, I do not recall the exact names of the other test drivers.)

05

In the center, wearing a light-gray suit, is V. G. Mazepa, Chief Designer at ZIL. He is a member of the Russian Union of Writers. (Photo from a letter in our correspondence.)

06

I. S. Stepanov (1936–2013) was the chief designer of ZIL luxury automobiles and a professor at the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Institute. He held a Candidate of Technical Sciences degree. He was a close friend of mine; we had no secrets from each other. After graduating from the institute, we both began working at a design bureau specializing in test rigs. We used to spend our leisure time together at Igor’s dacha, making films and attending an amateur filmmakers' club...
